چکیده
Expectation for renewable energy is increasing due to environmental pollution such as fossil fuel depletion, CO2 emission, and harmful gases. Therefore, in this study, extracted sugars of microalgae, which cause algal blooms crude glycerol, a biodiesel industry byproduct, were used simultaneously produce 2,3-BDO. The 2,3-BDO production using only was about 4.8 g/L at 18 h, the both sugar glycerol 7 h. It confirmed that main culture with increased 1.5-fold compared case sugars. In addition, four components medium (ammonium sulfate, casein hydrolysate, yeast extract, glycerol) statistically optimized concentrations 12, 16, 13 g/L, respectively. final 11g/L, 1.6-fold higher than before optimization process. As result, it possible through simultaneous use can greatly contribute development zero-waste processes.

High production of 2,3-butanediol from biodiesel-derived crude glycerol by metabolically engineered Klebsiella oxytoca M1
BACKGROUND 2,3-Butanediol (2,3-BDO) is a promising bio-based chemical because of its wide industrial applications. Previous studies on microbial production of 2,3-BDO has focused on sugar fermentation. Alternatively, biodiesel-derived crude glycerol can be used as a cheap resource for 2,3-BDO production; however, a considerable formation of 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) and low concentration, produ...
متن کاملCharacterization of Crude Glycerol from Biodiesel Production from Multiple Feedstocks
Glycerol is the principal by-product of biodiesel production. For each gallon of biodiesel produced, approximately 0.3 kg of crude glycerol accompanies. Such crude glycerol possesses very low value because of the impurities contained. As the demand and production of biodiesel grow exponentially, the utilization of the glycerol becomes an urgent topic. The make-up of crude glycerol varies depend...

In this study, we evaluated the use of an up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor to treat crude glycerol obtained from cottonseed biodiesel production. The laboratory-scale UASB reactor (7.0 L) was operated at ambient temperature of 26.5°C with chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentrations between 0.5 and 8.0 g/L. The volatile fatty acid contents, pH, inorganic salt contents and biogas p...
متن کاملL-lactate production from biodiesel-derived crude glycerol by metabolically engineered Enterococcus faecalis: cytotoxic evaluation of biodiesel waste and development of a glycerol-inducible gene expression system.
Biodiesel waste is a by-product of the biodiesel production process that contains a large amount of crude glycerol. To reuse the crude glycerol, a novel bioconversion process using Enterococcus faecalis was developed through physiological studies. The E. faecalis strain W11 could use biodiesel waste as a carbon source, although cell growth was significantly inhibited by the oil component in the...
متن کاملDirect Biodiesel Production from Wet Microalgae Biomass of Chlorella pyrenoidosa through In Situ Transesterification
A one-step process was applied to directly converting wet oil-bearing microalgae biomass of Chlorella pyrenoidosa containing about 90% of water into biodiesel. In order to investigate the effects of water content on biodiesel production, distilled water was added to dried microalgae biomass to form wet biomass used to produce biodiesel. The results showed that at lower temperature of 90°C, wate...
